Yosemite Valley is located about 215 miles south east of San Francisco. Visitors should spend at least one night in order to see the incredible sights in and around the Yosemite Valley. It is possible to stay right INSIDE Yosemite Valley at: YOSEMITE VALLEY LODGE at the Falls or MAJESTIC YOSEMITE (AHWAHNEE) HOTEL.
2 day or 3 day packages include: Transportation including free luggage space, Park entrance fee, room including tax at Yosemite Valley Lodge or Majestic Yosemite Hotel and Valley Floor Tour from November to early May. Glacier Point tour in place of Valley Floor Tour from late May to October.

Pick up from almost any hotel in central San Francisco area between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Comfortable Amtrak train from Emeryville connecting to YARTS bus at Merced leaving at 11:00 reaching Yosemite Valley Lodge near The Falls by 1:25 p.m.
Day 2: you have reservations to take the Glacier Point Tour leaving Yosemite Lodge at 8:30 a.m. This takes about four hours and goes up to about 8,000 feet in elevation. When that tour is not operating or if the elevation bothers you the alternate is the 2-hour Yosemite Valley tour.
On this two-hour tour, park rangers introduce some of Yosemite’s most famous sightseeing points in Yosemite Valley and describe the history, geology, plant and animal life of the region. This year-round Yosemite Valley Floor tour provides a fuller knowledge and enjoyment of the park. Open-air trams operate from late spring through early fall. From late October through April, tour in an enclosed and heated motor coach with large windows allowing unimpeded views of Yosemite’s famous sights.
On this four hour tour conducted by park rangers or naturalists in an enclosed and heated motor coach with large windows allowing unimpeded views of Yosemite’s famous sights the winding road takes you up in about an hour from Yosemite Valley at about 4,000 feet to approximately 7,200 feet at Glacier Point. From the parking lot walking about a quarter mile to the edge you see the top of Yosemite – The Half Dome, Little Yosemite Valley, Tenaya Canyon, Vernal and Nevada Falls and the entire Valley about 4,000 feet below including The Ahwahnee Meadow, Yosemite Falls and The Royal Arches. After spending an hour or so return to Yosemite Valley Lodge. A stop at Wawona Tunnel Entrance for the panoramic view of Yosemite Valley from the west is included on the way up or back depending on the traffic conditions.
Meet us at Yosemite Valley Lodge YARTS bus stop at 3:45 p.m. for departure by 4:00. Reaching Merced about 6:30 p.m. connecting to Amtrak train reaching Emeryville by 9:45. transfer to San Francisco by 10:00 p.m. There can be traffic delays or late departure – please do not expect to catch a flight at night.
Instructions for travel to Los Angeles:
At 10:00 YARTS bus picks up at Yosemite Valley Lodge taking you to Merced arriving at AMTRAK station by 12:17. Check in with the ticket agent to exchange the reserved e-ticket for the Train # 714 leaving at 12:59. The train takes you through the rich agricultural area of San Joaquin, parts of California that will surprise you, rarely seen by tourists. Reaching Bakersfield at 4:11 p.m. transfer to Amtrak connecting bus leaving at 4:20. You should reach Los Angeles Union Station at 6:40 p.m. Super Shuttle provides transfers to LAX and various hotels.

You can take this tour almost any day using a combination of motor coach and AMTRAK train.
Located near the Yosemite Falls there are several two-story buildings amidst the sugar pine and redwood trees surrounding a central core that has a cafeteria, a food court and Mountain Room restaurant. Air conditioning has not yet invaded these nicely appointed rooms each with two beds, bathroom, balcony or patio. There is a well-stocked gift shop and store, a swimming pool and a post office on the grounds.
The Ahwahnee is a world-class hotel built in 1927 and kept in an excellent condition. All rooms have air conditioning, TV and wireless internet. Some rooms are available with king size beds. Dinner at The Ahwahnee Dining Room will be in your memory for ever.
